Laredo 6, Sioux Falls 3 –
DH Dvontrey Richardson’s single in the bottom of the eighth kicked off a crazy sequence that ended up in two lemur runs and a Laredo victory. Richardson singled to the second baseman, whose error resulted in 2B Kevin Taylor scoring from third and LF Chris Elder scoring from second. The winning run was the feather in the cap for Taylor, who had a huge day at the plate. Taylor went 2-2 with two runs, two walks and his fourth home run of the season. Reliever Ryan Beckman earned the victory and John Brebbia picked up the save.
The Canaries were led by LF Chris Grayson, who went 2-5 with a run and an RBI. CF Cody Bishop went 2-3 with a run scored and a walk.
Wichita 5, Ottawa 4 –
With the game tied at four in the top of the eight, SSÌýLeo VargasÌýwas the hero tonight for the Wingnuts. LFÌýJoash BrodinÌýwas on third base when Vargas singled. Brodin scored easily what would become the winning run. Brodin finished the game going 2-5 with a run scored. RFÌýDavid EspinosaÌýalso had a strong day at the plate. Espinosa finished 3-4 with two runs and an RBI. Wichita was also helped by strong outings from the back end of their bullpen.ÌýIden NazarioÌýshut down the end of the 7th and the 8th to earn the victory, whileÌýDaniel BennettÌýstruck out 2 in the ninth inning to get the save.
The big bat for Ottawa was 2BÌýRoberto Ramirez, who hit a two run double in the fifth inning. He finished 3-4 with two RBI. SSDaniel BickÌýwent 1-3 with two runs scored.
Gary Southshore vs Joplin – Suspended
The game between Gary Southshore and Joplin was suspended due to rain with the railcats leading 2-0 in the bottom of the fifth inning. The game will be completed on Tuesday, August 18.
