Sioux City, Iowa 鈥 The Sioux City Explorers announced today that the Los Angeles Dodgers have purchased the contract of Explorers INF Noah Perio. Perio will report to the Great Lakes Loons (Low Class A) of the Midwest League.
Perio was drafted by the Florida Marlins in the 39th round in the 2009 MLB June Amateur Draft from De La Salle High School in Concord, Calif. He聽spent six seasons in the Marlins organization (2009-2014), reaching as high as Double-A in 2013.
In his first year with the X鈥檚 in 2015, the Discovery Bay, Calif., native turned in an outstanding season in which he played in all 100 games and led the team in hits (129), doubles (29), and RBI鈥檚 (74). The 129 hit season was also tops in the entire American Association while his 29 doubles was the 2nd highest in the league. Perio also clubbed 7 home runs which were good for 2nd on the team, while adding 4 triples, 61 runs scored, and 18 stolen bases to go with an impressive .316 batting average. His hot hitting continued into the 2015 American Association Playoffs where he posted a .300 batting average and led the team with 7 RBI鈥檚 during the X鈥檚 8 post-season games. For his efforts, Perio was named to the 2015 postseason American Association All-Star Team.

Perio鈥檚 best statistical season in the Marlins organization came in 2011 as a member of the Greensboro Grasshoppers of the South Atlantic League where he hit .295 while collecting 144 hits with 30 doubles, 3 triples, 6 home runs, scoring 76 runs, and accumulating 52 RBI鈥檚. For his efforts, Perio was listed as the #8 prospect in the Marlins organization in 2011 according to Baseball America. For his 6 year career with the Marlins, Perio played in 497 games, collecting 474 hits, recording 85 doubles and 187 RBI鈥檚, to go along with his .260 batting average.
This season (2016) with the Explorers, Noah Perio has continued his All-Star caliber performance. Perio currently ranks third in RBI (36) in the American Association and fourth in hits (49). In 35 games with the X鈥檚, Perio is batting .338 with 49 hits, 10 doubles, three home runs, 36 RBI and 27 runs scored.
