The ۿ۴ý announced today that Milwaukee Milkmen infielder Michael Hallquist and right-hander Davis Welch have been named the Carbliss Batter and Pitcher of the Week for the week ending June 21.

Hallquist paced the Milwaukee offense with a tremendous all-around week at the plate, batting .500 (11-for-22) while reaching base at a .577 clip and slugging 1.000. The infielder collected seven extra-base hits, including five doubles and two home runs, while scoring nine runs and driving in six.

One of the league’s hottest hitters during the week, Hallquist posted a 1.577 OPS and consistently sparked the Milkmen lineup from top to bottom. His combination of power, plate discipline and run production helped Milwaukee put together an impressive offensive stretch as they continued their push in the standings.

Welch matched Hallquist’s performance on the mound, earning victories in both of his starts while posting a 1.38 ERA over 13.0 innings. The right-hander allowed just two earned runs on 11 hits, walked only one batter and struck out 11.

The Milwaukee ace worked deep into games throughout the week, averaging 6.5 innings per start while limiting opposing offenses to minimal scoring opportunities. Welch’s command was especially sharp, as he issued just one walk across his two outings while helping lead the Milkmen to a pair of victories.

The Carbliss Batter and Pitcher of the Week awards are selected by the ۿ۴ý.
