Fargo-Moorhead听11, Sioux City 3 –
The RedHawks scored 11 runs in the first five innings Saturday night and coasted to an 11-3 win against Sioux City.
3叠听Ronnie Bourquin听and LF听Sawyer Carroll听combined for three home runs and seven RBIs.
Bourquin听led off the game with a walk, and Carroll听belted a 1-2 pitch for a two-run homer to give the RedHawks an early 2-0 lead.
The RedHawks added five more in the second, including a grand slam from Bourquin. In the fourth, Carroll led off the inning with a home run and C听Petey Paramore听hit a two-run double to make it 10-2. CF听Nic Jackson’s听RBI single in the fifth finished out the scoring for the game, giving RedHawks’ pitchers plenty of breathing room.
Right-hander听Brian Ernst听pitched six innings, allowing three runs on four hits. He struck out six and walked five. Reliever听Justin Erasmus听entered in the seventh and got the three-inning save, allowing two hits and striking out three.
Wichita 5, Amarillo 4 –
Wichita RF听David Amberson听took one for the team, using a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch in the bottom of the ninth to score the game-winning run against the Amarillo Sox in a 5-4 win.
The Sox took a 4-2 lead in the top of the ninth on RBI singles from pinch-hitter Derek Perren and 2B Brandon Pinckney, but the Wingnuts stormed back in the ninth.
Wichita 2B听Chris McClendon听led off the inning with a single and CF听Brent Cleavlen moved him to second with a single of his own. LF听Carlo Testa听drove home McClendon with a single, and after a pitching change C听Chris McMurray听drove in the tying run with a double to left field. Following an intentional walk, Amberson was beaned on the first pitch of his at-bat to win it for the Wingnuts.
Reliever Matt Neverez got his third win of the year after allowing two听runs in the ninth.
Gary SouthShore 10, Winnipeg 9 –
RailCats’ RF听Drew Martinez听 scored 3叠听Daniel Pulfer听with a go-ahead sacrifice fly to left field to beat the Goldeyes, 10-9.
The RailCats took a 9-7 lead in the fifth with a four-run rally that included a solo home run from C听Craig Maddox. The Goldeyes tied the game in the eighth on a solo home run from 3叠听Jake Blackwood before Martinez’s fly ball put the RailCats ahead for good.
Right-handed reliever听Kevin Brahney听got the win after allowing one run in the eighth.听James Parr听got the save 鈥� his third 鈥� by pitching a scoreless ninth.
The teams combined for 35 hits in the slugfest, including 12 extra-base hits. For Gary SouthShore, Pulfer went 3-for-6 with a triple, and 1B听Wally Backman听went 4-for-5 with two doubles.
For Winnipeg, C听Luis Alen听went 4-for-4 with two home runs and three RBIs.
Kansas City 11, St. Paul 4 –
The T-Bones used the long ball to beat the Saints, 11-4, Saturday night in St. Paul.
3叠听TJ Mittelstaedt听led off the game with a home run to set the tone, and CF听Robby Kuzdale听hit a two-run shot in the second to give the T-Bones a 3-0 lead.
After adding another run in the third, RF听Ray Sadler听rounded out a four-run rally with a three-run homer to make it 8-0. Sadler went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Kansas City starter听Andy Noga, in a winning effort,听pitched six innings of one-run ball, striking out听six.
For the Saints,听LF听Joe Bonfe听went 3-for-4 with an RBI.
New Jersey 10, Lincoln 2 –
New Jersey starter Michael Antonini struck out a season-high 15 batters in a 10-2 interleague victory against the American Association’s Lincoln Saltdogs Saturday night in Little Falls, N.J.
Antonini (5-1, 2.94 ERA) pitched seven innings, allowing one run on five hits.
The Jackals used a seven-run fourth inning to take control of the game. In the bottom of the fourth, with the game tied 1-1, DH Joe Dunigan cracked his league-leading 15th home run of the season, a two-run shot, to give the Jackals a 3-1 lead. SS Richard Arias followed with a two-run double, and 3B Steve Nikorak drove in Arias with an RBI single. CF Alonzo Harris capped the seven-run rally with a two-RBI triple.
Harris led the Jackals, who got at least one hit from all nine batters, with three hits.
For the Saltdogs, 3B Omar Luna went 3-for-4, and 2B Luis Nunez hit a solo home run to lead off the the top of the fourth.
Grand Prairie 7, Sioux Falls 5 –
The AirHogs turned two Sioux Falls errors into four runs, beating the Canaries, 7-5, Saturday night.
After an error in the second inning, LF听Madison Carter听scored the go-ahead run on a fielder’s choice, and the next batter, SS听Jimmy Mojica, doubled in a run to give the AirHogs a 3-1 lead.
In the top of the sixth, Carter and 1B听Jason Botts听scored on an error by the shortstop, pushing the lead to 5-2. Carter and Botts each had two hits to lead the AirHogs.
The Canaries would cut the AirHogs’ lead to one on a two-run homer by 2B听Sam Lind, but the AirHogs added runs in the seventh and eighth to put the game out of reach. Lind went 3-for-4, and 1B听A.J. Kirby-Jones听went 4-for-5 with three runs scored for Sioux Falls.
Grand Prairie starter Trevor Harden (4-1, 4.11 ERA) allowed four earned runs in six innings, striking out five to get the win. Closer Dakota Watts notched his 12th save, allowing one earned run in the ninth inning.
Laredo 7, Quebec 0 –
Laredo right-hander Cesar Carrillo turned in a gem against the Can-Am League’s Quebec Capitales, pitching eight shutout innings. Carrillo struck out three batters, allowing four hits and five walks.
The Lemurs took the lead in the fifth on LF JP Ramirez’s RBI triple, and tacked on six runs in the bottom of the eighth, highlighted by 2B Travis Denker’s RBI triple. Denker went 2-for-3 with an RBI, a run scored and a walk.
Laredo RF Denis Phipps went 2-for-2 with two walks and a run scored. 3B Harrison Kain led the Lemurs with two RBIs on a two-run double in the eighth.
For the Capitales, RF Asif Shah, the Can-Am League leader in batting average at .366, went 2-for-4.
